If you are an avid golf fan, or even just a fan of being closer to the action at a major sporting event than virtually everyone else but the players themselves, your time is running out to be a part of one of the most prestigious major golf championships in history — inside the ropes.
The KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship returns to the Golf Club at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor this spring and the crew from the PGA of America is working to line up the last of an army of volunteers who will help make this the world-class event that it always promises to be.
Danae Donatello is Manager of Volunteer Operations for the Championship which is headed to Harbor Shores over the Memorial Day Weekend, and she has already successfully lined up some 1,700 volunteers for the event but is now down to less than 100 opportunities for those interested in being a part of an historic event.
If you look closely at the photo accompanying this story on Moody on the Market, you will find two major championship players and a caddie wrapping up play on the 18th green at Harbor Shores. You will also see a man with his back to us on the left side of the photo. That’s one of the key marshals involved in crowd control for the event. He’s right on the edge of the action, and you can have the same job or one similar to it in late May.
Donatello says there are volunteer opportunities on a couple of committees, but your best opportunity to be that close to the action is to volunteer as a fairway marshal for the event, or there are still openings on may wife’s favorite committee Leader Boards & Thru Boards. She’s been a leaderboard/thru-board volunteer since day one and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
If you’d like to join the volunteer ranks, time is running out, and the fee is just $130 for which you get a tremendous return including uniform clothing, meals and beverages, unique hospitality options, a free round at Harbor Shores and more.
You can actually register right now by clicking the link below or by calling Danae at 269-487-3200 at the Championship office.
Remember two things…that guy in the picture could be you at the 2018 Championship and there are less than 100 opportunities left still open.
