Life-Saving Gear for Dogs Now Available in Van Buren County

Anybody who doesn’t own a dog likely has little clue to the incredible attachment we humans have to our four-legged friends. Nevertheless, the numbers are staggering proof that we hold very near and dear the lives of our friends from the animal kingdom. Last year alone nearly $67-billion dollars was spent in the United States on the care, feeding, nurturing and health of the family dog and other pets. We clearly value them highly, which is why emergency crews in Van Buren County have stepped up to assure their well-being.

First Responders from South Haven Area Emergency Services, Bangor, Columbia and Covert are now some of the best-equipped in the nation to save a pet’s life.

Last Thursday, April 27th, representatives from Invisible Fence of Western Michigan donated six pet oxygen mask kits to those emergency responder departments. A March 16 incident in which South Haven Area Emergency Services responders revived a semi-conscious dog overcome in a Casco Township house fire caught the interest of the national company which sponsors a “Project Breathe” program.

Those emergency responders did not have the benefit of the specially fitted pet oxygen masks at the time, but going forward, they will, which brings considerable peace of mind to pet owners all across Van Buren County.

The generous corporate leaders at Invisible Fence nationwide have now provided more than 18,200 pet oxygen masks, donated free of charge to multiple fire departments across the USA.
