LMC Offers Student Financial Aid Assistance Night on Campus

Money should never be a barrier to obtaining the education you need to succeed in life, and that is why the team at Lake Michigan College is hosting a key night of information and financial aid advice this month in the form of a FAFSA Assistance Night event.

The session is slated for Thursday evening, February 20th, from 6 to 7:30pm on the Benton Harbor Campus in the Student Services Area inside the Main Building on Napier Avenue.

LMC staff will be available to answer questions and assist with the financial aid application process in the free event which is open to the general public. Students of all ages who plan to attend college in the 2020-21 academic year are encouraged to attend, even if they are undecided or planning to attend a school other than LMC.

Jeremy Schaeffer is LMC’s Director of Admissions and Recruitment. He says, “The financial aid application process can be daunting,” but notes, “Lake Michigan College’s mission is to serve the community. That includes giving students in Southwest Michigan the help they need to get their questions answered as we approach the application deadlines for the 2020-21 academic year.”

Schaeffer adds that all prospective students are also welcome to set-up appointments with LMC staff during regular office hours to get help with their application process.

The deadline set by the state of Michigan for the 2020-21 academic year is March 1st, and you can find more info on that available at studentaid.gov. LMC encourages students to apply for financial aid early because LMC funds are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
