A whimsical new character is rolling into Southwest Michigan this weekend, and families are invited to come along for the ride.

Local author Chrissy Meek, writing under the pen name Caleigh Lee, is celebrating the release of her third children’s book, The Rolly Polly Wholly Hedgehog, with a special event this Saturday, May 31st, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sunrise Farms, located at 1310 Hillandale Road, just east of Benton Harbor.

Aimed at children ages 1–10—and fun-loving grownups, too—the story follows a cheerful little hedgehog as he rolls through the seasons with his sidekick friends, Skittle and Squeak. A book reading for children is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., and families are encouraged to bring their young readers out to enjoy the adventure in person.

“This story is about a delightful and fun-loving hedgehog who is rolling through the seasons with his sidekicks,” says Meek. “He is full of adventure and wants to bring you along!”

A resident of Watervliet, Meek also serves the local community in her day job at the Women’s Business Center at Cornerstone Alliance, where she works with entrepreneurs and small businesses to help them grow and succeed. That spirit of support extends to her passion for storytelling.

“I believe in helping community,” she says. “Others supported me when I became an author, and now I have the chance to do the same.”

This latest book is the first in what Meek describes as a four-part series, joining her previous titles The Magic Puppy and Happy Tail, all available on Amazon for those unable to attend Saturday’s event.

For a fun, family-friendly outing that celebrates local creativity and encourages a love of reading, The Rolly Polly Wholly Hedgehog launch at Sunrise Farms is sure to be a hit.
