Major Expansion for Midwest Glass

Things in the mirror are larger than they appear. That's certainly the case for Midwest Glass & Mirror which continues exponential growth in Michigan's Great Southwest. A sizable expansion is underway at the company's sales and production headquarters on Red Arrow Highway in Stevensville, being shepherded by Pearson Construction Company of Benton Harbor. Pearson was hired as the design build contractor to both design and construct the new addition.

Steel for the new section was erected over the last couple of weeks, with Pearson welders finishing that part of the project before the work gets started on enclosing the new superstructure on the northern end of the property at 5275 Red Arrow Highway north of Puetz Road in Lincoln Charter Township. Midwest is owned and operated by Greg Haynes and Jon Gaunder.

The 7,500 square foot addition will house new offices and production operations for Midwest Glass & Mirror. With the current 12,000 square foot facility, the addition will bring nearly 20,000 square feet under roof, when the project is completed by early October.

Greg Haynes is President of Midwest Glass & Mirror. He tells me they have "experienced tremendous growth in the last several years" in the business, "and we needed additional space to keep pace with the growth and increase our overall efficiency."

The 29-year old company was founded in 1987 as a simple, two-person glass shop. Their regular ongoing growth has made them a top choice among contractors and residential clients alike seeking quality production and cutting edge products from windows and doors to mirrors, shower enclosures and more.

The team at Midwest Glass & Mirror now tops 40 people on staff, as they continue to strive to be the leader in the glass and mirror industry in order to bring the best to clientele throughout the region. The business is well known for custom window, door and glass solutions provided by first quality, brand name, suppliers. Their full-service custom glass shop creates home glass installations like table tops, bathroom installations, shower doors and enclosures and far beyond. They are also a major provider to the contracting industry for windows, doors and more for commercial and industrial buildings all over Michigan's Great Southwest.

For the commercial sector, Midwest provides a complete line up of products including strorefronts, mall fronts, curtain walls, commercial entrances, operable windows, drive up/drive thru windows, skylights and translucent wall panels. Some of their workmanship can be seen at projects such as the beautiful Saranac Flats project in downtown Benton Harbor with tons of custom glass work there, as well as the Lakeland Cancer Center, the recently remodeled Lakeshore Public Schools projects, and Whirlpool's Riverview Campus.

Pearson Construction has been in business for nearly 100 years as a leading commercial, industrial and institutional construction services firm in Southwest Michigan.
