March 15th to 21st Declared as Restaurant Week in Coloma

Calling it an easy way for the community to show support for an industry that has been hammered by the pandemic, the City of Coloma has taken formal action to declare the week of March 15th through the 21st as Restaurant Week in Coloma.

At their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, the Coloma City Commission unanimously voted to declare their version of Restaurant Week in Coloma. The declaration was made in support of the Berrien County Board of Commission’s resolution to name March as Restaurant Month in Berrien County.

Mayor Marsha Hammond says, “This is a simple way that our community can support an industry that has truly been impacted by the pandemic. Our community offers a great variety of dining options, this gives us a chance to showcase them to both residents and visitors alike.”

Hammond went on to say, “We are especially pleased to be naming this particular week Restaurant Week as we typically hold our St. Patrick’s Day parade around this timeframe. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the parade is canceled for the year. Designating a week as Restaurant Week gives us an opportunity to encourage visitors to our special community and helps us commend a holiday that we enjoy celebrating in our community.”

Coloma City officials say this is how you can participate:

  • Visit a Coloma Restaurant (Dine-in, carry out, curbside or delivery)
  • Share it on the City of Coloma’s Facebook page with a photo and the hashtag #colomarestaurantweek & #berrienrestaurantmonth
  • Enjoy! It is a great way to support local businesses!

Coloma City Commissioner, and local business owner of Soulards, Taylor Prestidge says, “This is a great way to showcase what Coloma has to offer. I am pleased to be a part of the Coloma Community and look forward to participating in Restaurant Week.”

The City will be partnering with the Coloma Watervliet Chamber of Commerce to promote Restaurant Week. They encourage you to watch the City’s Facebook page for more information on Restaurant Week.
