March Mannequins next Friday in downtown St. Joseph

Coming up on Friday, March 2 in downtown St. Joseph will be the return of March Mannequins.

St. Joe Today’s Daniele Crevier tells us the popular event gets local businesses involved as they put on displays in their front windows for passersby to view.

This is where community storefronts come together,” Crevier said. “They host a display around a theme that gets voted on, and they get community volunteers, they get staff, employees, friends, family, and they pose perfectly still like mannequins, so you get to watch as those storefronts come alive.”

Crevier says there is a theme to the displays this year: Movies.

Businesses can pick a different movie from any time. Some examples — we’ve got Casablanca, we’ve got Clueless, Jurassic Park, Star Wars, we’re really excited. We’ve got Wizard of Oz. So up to two businesses can do the same theme, but we don’t have a lot repeating this year.”

Attendees can vote for their favorite windows at StJoeToday.com, and a panel of judges will also be picking their favorites. The top three winners chosen by the panel and the People’s Choice Winner will be announced on the St. Joe Today Facebook page on Monday, March 9.

Crevier also notes St. Joe Today has teamed up with the Old Fashioned Popcorn Wagon to offer free popcorn to downtown visitors for the evening.

March Mannequins will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. next Friday. Crevier also urges everyone to return downtown on Saturday, March 3 for the indoor Spring Artisan Market at the Union+Social Event Venue from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
