MI Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs Launches Round 2 of Mini-Grant Applications

Arts and cultural organizations, local communities, artists themselves and beyond are now able to apply for a second round of mini-grants from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs with applications due by mid-January.

Round 2 of MCACA’s Mini-grant Program is now open. Applications are due January 15th for the projects and opportunities occurring between March 1, 2021 and September 30, 2021.

The agency reminds that not all regions offer Round 2 funding, and you are encouraged to contact your Regional Services Agency to confirm if Round 2 funding is available. Learn more online at this link:

Below are brief mini-grant overviews:

Mini-grant Program – Arts Project

  • Limited to registered non-profit organizations, schools, colleges/universities and municipalities located in the state of Michigan. Federal and State agencies are not eligible to apply.
  • $4,000 Grants awarded must not exceed 50-percent of total project costs.
  • A 1:1 cash and/or in-kind match is required.

Applicants may apply to more than one Council program, however, no one applicant may receive multiple grants in the same category or receive both an Arts Project Mini-grant and a POPS grant during the same fiscal year.

Minigrant Program – Professional or Organizational Development (POD)

  • Limited to registered non-profit arts and cultural organizations, arts administrators and professional artists, located in the state of Michigan. Federal and State agencies are not eligible to apply.
  • $1,500 Grants awarded must not exceed 75-percent of total project cost up to $1,500.
  • A 25-percent cash and/or in-kind match is required.

Applicants may apply to more than one Council program, however, no one applicant may receive multiple grants in the same category during the same fiscal year.
