MI State Police Ask SWM Residents to “Stuff a Blue Goose” for the Less Fortunate Among Us

When you hear the phrase “Stuff a Blue Goose,” unless you are familiar with the context you might raise an eyebrow in wonder and confusion. Once you recognize that the standard Michigan State Police patrol vehicles have held the nickname of “Blue Goose” for decades you can begin to come around to the concept behind the annual fundraiser hosted by State Police Troopers here in Michigan’s Great Southwest.

The State Police Post in Niles is working with Mosaic’s Wonderland Toy Store, Helping Hands of Cass County, Red Bud Area Ministries, Walmart and Meijer stores in the region with the collection of toys, gift cards, and food for those less fortunate again this holiday season.  The theme for the event is once again “Stuff a Blue Goose” for the holidays.

State Police will station a “Blue Goose” outside of Walmart at 2107 S. 11th Street in Niles and another at the Stevensville Meijer at 5019 Red Arrow Highway this coming Saturday, December 5th, 2020. Troopers will volunteer their time to collect donations from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at those locations.

The collective goal is to gather as many items as possible during that 4-hour period.  All of the items gathered will be given to the Mosaic Wonderland Toy Store, Redbud Area Ministries and Helping Hands of Cass County. The donations stay local and help those families in need within our communities.

Mosaic Wonderland Toy Store needs toys for children of all ages and gift cards (Meijer, Walmart, Best Buy, or Kohls) valued at $50 or less for teenagers. Redbud Area Ministries and Helping Hands of Cass County need nonperishable food items.

The Mosaic Wonderland Toy Store is a special Christmas shopping experience for families who are unable to afford Christmas gifts for their children. That annual “shopping” event provides parents the dignity and joy associated with the ability to buy gifts for their children at a discount thanks to donations.

This is the seventh year that the Michigan State Police Niles post will be conducting this very important event. You are asked to please venture out and support “Stuff a Blue Goose” this Saturday, December 5th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, however, if you are unable to make that date and time, donations are being collected at the Michigan State Police Niles Post as well.
