Michigan Works! & Upjohn Institute to Survey Wages & Benefits to Give Employers Some Perspective

Are you a business owner in southwest Michigan and you’re not sure how to compete with other employers with wages and benefits in the post-covid environment? Today’s labor market is changing rapidly and Michigan Works! says  it is here to help!

Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren is excited to partner with W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research to design and implement a wage & benefits survey for four core sectors: Manufacturing, Healthcare, Childcare and Construction to help local employers remain competitive through wage and benefit benchmarking to help inform hiring and retention strategies in 2023.

“Employers have been telling us that the labor market has changed post covid. They are not fully aware of what’s driving jobseekers from one employer to the other, which is where we come in,” said Mark O’Reilly, Director of Business Solutions at Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren. “This upcoming survey is a response to that employer need and an opportunity for our local businesses to use data to inform their decision making around wages, benefits and post covid best practices in preparation for 2023.”

To ensure data integrity and one response per employer, company owners are encouraged to reach out to Paul Brohman at BrohmanP@miworks.org to get added to the survey list. Employers who are interested in participating should send Paul their name, company name and the email address of the person responding on behalf of the company. The survey will be sent to that individual directly for a response and will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Following the completion of the survey, results will be shared with participating companies in December 2022. All the information collected is confidential and will be shared in an aggregate format.

Michigan Works! of Berrien, Cass, Van specializes in educating, training, and employing individuals of all ages. We work with local businesses to find out what keeps them up at night and help them tackle the most pressing challenges they may face, including attracting and retaining talent.
