Motel in Bridgman being transformed into premium boutique lodging experience

A historic roadside motel in Bridgman is about to enter a new chapter, remodeled and rebranded to provide travelers to Southwest Michigan a premium lodging experience.

Jordan Painter is the owner of the now-former Bridgman Inn at 9999 Red Arrow Highway, which is being renovated to become the new Warren Hotel. A lot of progress has already been made since he bought the place in January.

We started with the exterior,” Painter said. “We replaced the roofs, we gutted everything out of the rooms. So all the interior, all the furnishings, the flooring, everything has been taken out, and we are in the process now of putting it back together…So we’re about, I’d say, 80 or 90% done putting the flooring in. Most of the rooms have at least had the painting begun. Some of them are pretty much finished. And then furnishing is going to be starting in the next couple of weeks.”

Painter tells us he and his partners are always on the lookout for older properties in need of some modernization, and the 1950s-built motel fits the bill. It’ll have a complete facelift.

It’ll be recovered with a much more modern look, and the interior rooms are going to be decorated very high end. We’re going to be targeting very exclusive clientele.”

Painter says The Warren Hotel will feature 24 fully renovated guest rooms and outdoor gathering spaces designed for visitors exploring the Lake Michigan shoreline.

It has an outdoor swimming pool, we’re going to have pickleball courts, we’re going to have sauna, fire pit, hot tub. Really, we’re going to go all out to have just a really incredible guest experience there.”

Painter says this will give visitors to Southwest Michigan a boutique place to stay close to attractions like Weko Beach and Warren Dunes State Park. He’s aiming to have the hotel ready for bookings in May.

My family is going to be spending spring break down in the area so that my wife and my daughter, who are handling the design, can get a couple of the rooms completely done just to kind of map out the blueprint for the workers that are going to be putting the rest of them together.”

Painter says he and his partners look forward to the opening of The Warren and the economic boost it can bring to the Bridgman community.

We love to see some of these tired, older projects and revitalize them into something that the communities can be proud of and really enjoy.”
