New Coffee Shop Schedules Ribbon Cutting in Downtown Bridgman

If you’re going to open a coffee shop, it’s nice to be “well grounded,” (pun fully intended) and it’s hard to beat the opportunity anchor yourself side-by-side with the thriving business that your own mother has created. Such is the case for Eric Hewerd, who also was smart enough to capitalize on opening up his new coffee shop on National Coffee Day in downtown Bridgman.

That was back on September 29th, and now that all of the kinks have been ironed out, and the business is into a groove, Eric and his mother Cheri Hewerd will conduct the official ribbon cutting for their new Small Town Grounds Coffee Shop at 4158 Lake Street in the central business district of Bridgman.

Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Bridgman Area Chamber & Growth Alliance will host the celebration and ribbon cutting for Small Town Grounds on Tuesday, November 20th at noon.

The new coffee shop, co-located in the same building as Cheri Hewerd’s Small Town Wedding & Floral Shop, offers fresh brewed coffee, lattes, macchiatos, cappuccinos and more all made from their in-house fresh roasted coffee beans. Those who like to enjoy a sweet treat with their coffee will also find fresh baked goods from Red Coach Donuts, and Classic Catering in the house at Small Town Grounds. Both Eric and Cheri worked at Classic Catering, he for 13 years and she for 17.

Once inside, guests can also shop a selection of gift ideas including floral arrangements in the wedding and floral shop. Cheri likes to call it, “a floral café.” She admits, “That’s actually why we opened Small Town Grounds here, I already owned the space for my wedding and floral business and with Eric’s passion for coffee the timing was right.”

You’ll find Small Town Grounds open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 7am until 5pm, on Fridays from 7am until 6pm and on Sunday from 8am until 3pm. They are closed on Mondays.
