Whirlpool Corporation is often considered the world leader in the home appliance industry, and part of that is because of their avant-garde and award-winning design innovations.
In the past few years, several high-profile design leaders have influenced the form, function, and overall experience between people and the corporation’s home appliances. Among those leaders, world-renowned designer J Mays, former Volvo and Herman Miller design leader Tisha Johnson, and former Ford designer Pat Schiavone.
Today, Whirlpool Corporation has announced veteran product designer Rob Moser is joining as vice president of global consumer design.
“We are excited to welcome Rob to Whirlpool Corporation,” said Roberto Campos, executive vice president, global product organization. “Rob will be leading a group of world-class designers and innovators, and their work together will enhance product leadership and help to improve lives at home for years to come.”

Moser and his team will be responsible for overlaying consumer insights and usage scenarios against global design trends to create the look and feel of the coming generations of home appliances. Collaborating with a global team, Moser will lead design strategy and implementation across all laundry and kitchen appliance platforms and CPG product categories.

The announcement of Moser as the company’s new design lead comes as the Global Consumer Design Center on Whirlpool Corporation’s Lakeview Campus in Benton Harbor, Mich. is currently undergoing a $15 million renovation that will help enhance collaboration and ideation across the global design team. Since 2010, the company has invested over $200 million in its facilities in Southwest Michigan – including a renovation of its global headquarters and a new North American headquarters.
Prior to joining Whirlpool Corp., Moser was the global head of product and design for Ford Next at Ford Motor Company. He has also held design leadership roles at HP and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
Born in Detroit, Mich., Moser studied industrial design at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Mich., and L’Accademia Italiana in Florence, Italy, and received his MBA from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas.
