New Doc at St. Joe's Animal Care Center

She lives with two rescued dogs and has a kind and gentle demeanor that helps put both pets and their human owners at ease, making her a superstar in most peoples eyes from the very get-go. She is Dr. Allison O'Neill and she is new to the staff of the growing Animal Care Center on Niles Avenue in the Southtown neighborhood of St. Joseph.

Berrien County's newest Veterinarian is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, but most recently comes from a large veterinary practice near Detroit in Southeastern Michigan. Dr. O'Neill is new to the Animal Care Center's staff as a full-time small animal vet. She earned her bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in chemistry and went on to earn her DVM degree from Ross University of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. O'Neill completed her clinical rotations at Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences before taking on her role as a staff vet at Wilson Veterinary Hospital in Washington Township, Michigan.

She comes to Animal Care Center at 2845 Niles Avenue having practiced small animal medicine and surgery with a diversified caseload outside of Detroit.

Dr. Joseph Turk, DVM, welcomes the new Veterinarian to his team and is excited about her new role here. Her rescue dogs are Dexter, a Pug/Beagle mix and a French Bulldog named Mutie. In addition to her new duties with Dr. Turk's team, she will likely soon be found at the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan helping the Doc take care of our area's homeless pets housed there. She is also keenly interested in veterinary oncology, the study of cancer in animals.

When she is not taking care of the dogs and cats of Berrien County, Dr. O'Neill tends to gravitate towards "outdoorsy" activities with a particular affinity for kayaking, hiking, running, soccer, and rock climbing. You can likely garner favor from her with a little Starbucks and some creme brulee, both rock solid favorites in her world along with her favorite superhero of Batman.

To reach Dr. O'Neill and the rest of the team at Animal Care Center, across from Harding's Supermarket, call 269-281-0554. With her addition, they are currently accepting new patients at the clinic. Learn more online at www.animalcc.com.
