A new funeral home and cremation service has opened in Benton Township.
Emmanuel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is located at 2547 M-139.
Deminia Walker, an experienced funeral director in Indiana, is the owner of the new enterprise. Walker told us about her professional background and her vision for Emmanuel:
With 27 years of experience, my journey began in high school, working at a funeral home in Indiana through the CHO program, which fostered hands-on learning. Although I initially pursued a career in retail after high school, I later enrolled in Ivy Tech Community College in 2002 and was part of the pioneering Mortuary Science Program class.
Undeterred by the pandemic, I opened my first funeral home in 2020, followed by two more in 2022 and 2025. Emmanuel Funeral Home and Cremation Services operates independently, unaffiliated with any local funeral homes in Michigan.
Our foundation is built on empathy, integrity, and a passion for serving others. We recognize the vulnerability of those grieving and commit to guiding them with care and support. This profession is not merely a job, but a ministry, mission, and passion that drives us to cater to the unique needs of each bereaved family.
Our code of conduct reflects our dedication to serving others with dignity and respect, fostering a supportive atmosphere. We strive to earn the trust of those who entrust their loved ones to our care, continuously seeking improvement and providing guidance throughout the process.
