Online Mega Millions Player in Michigan Wins $3M With Megaplier Option

If you play the Michigan Lottery online and haven’t checked your numbers yet, you might want to race to your computer, iPad, Smartphone or however else you check the results — especially if you selected the Megaplier option last night. Why? Because you just might be $3-million richer today, at least before taxes.

Michigan Lottery officials tell us that somebody who elected to add the $1-Megaplier option to a Mega Millions play turned a $1-million prize into a $3-million prize for a lucky online play yesterday.

A lucky player matched the five white balls drawn – 20-34-39-43-57 – in Tuesday’s drawing, good for a $1 million winning prize. Thanks to the Megaplier, that player’s prize was multiplied by three for a $3 million prize. The winning ticket was bought online at MichiganLottery.com.

The winner from Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing is being instructed to contact the Michigan Lottery Public Relations Division at (517) 373-1237 to schedule an appointment to collect the big prize. The prize must be claimed at the Lottery’s headquarters in Lansing. Tickets for Mega Millions are valid for one year from the drawing date.

Mega Millions drawings take place each Tuesday and Friday evening. Each Mega Millions play is $2, however for an additional $1 per play, players have the opportunity to add a “Megaplier” that can multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to five times as turned out to be the case Tuesday when it was multiplied by three times. Mega Millions tickets are sold in 44 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Mega Millions tickets for the next drawing may be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com and at the Lottery’s 10,500 retailers around the state until 10:45 p.m. the day of the drawing.
