Plank’s Tavern: new main floor open as final updates continue

Planks new booths

Three months into their major update Plank’s Tavern inside The Inn at Harbor Shores is open once again, while the finishing touches are being put on the million-dollar main floor remake.

General Managing Partner Brady Cohen tells us most of the dining room aspects are in place.  He is anticipating the completion of the centerpiece of the project:  the new horseshoe bar, twice the size of the previous layout.

The key to the new layout was the removal of the center wall  between Plank’s bar and dining room.  That’s gone and the new bar will dominate that space, making for an inviting ‘great room’ pub atmosphere that even more closely lives up to the name: Plank’s Tavern.  The bar is the major piece of the project still to be completed.

Meanwhile, all new booths, tables, chairs and floor surfaces are in place throughout the space.  Several booths encourage small group gatherings while still being open and flexible.

Cohen can’t wait to share the new look with customers:

“We’re thrilled to be back on our first floor where we belong and to share this incredible new space with the community.  The feedback so far has been amazing, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience it.

Guests can look forward to a refreshed atmosphere… two newly added fireplaces bring extra warmth and comfort to the space, creating a more inviting and relaxed dining experience. Updated lighting throughout adds depth and a more refined feel.”

Cohen assured customers that longtime menu favorites are still around.  They’ll add several new featured items when the project is complete and a grand opening happens in May.  He thanked customers who stopped by during the winter when Plank’s offered their second floor ‘speakeasy’, Slip 800, as a short term special experience while the main level was closed.

Cohen had praise for the experts that imagined and then created the new space.  He said the contemporary design was crafted by Fuller Design of Grand Rapids, with construction and execution led by The Reinks Group of South Bend.  Reinks is the developer of the planned ‘Marquette’ project on Lake Boulevard in downtown St. Joseph.

Plank’s Tavern is open daily: Monday- Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. serving Brunch and Dinner.
