Police Seek Niles Credit Union Robber

Perhaps a grey hoodie on an 80-degree summer day could have been a tip-off, but it wasn't enough to prevent a bold robbery late this morning in Niles when a lone thief held up a credit union in broad daylight, escaping with an undetermined amount of cash from tellers there.

Niles Police Detective Richard Krueger is investigating the stick-up which took place shortly after 11am at the Four Flags Credit Union at 1012 S. 11th Street in the city. Krueger says a white male aged 25 to 35 years old, wearing a grey hoodie walked into the credit union demanding cash from two employees there.

After the two complied with his demands, the unidentified robber, shown in surveillance camera photos, took the money and exited the building. He is believed to be driving a 2007 to 2009  silver Cadillac CST that appears to have damage to the front grill work. That getaway vehicle was last seen headed south on 9th Street in the city, and the robber remains at large.

Authorities have released the screen capture shown here from the surveillance cameras and are hopeful somebody will provide clues to his whereabouts and to his eventual capture.
