Present Pillars has taken another step toward empowering fathers and families. Today, the organization purchased its first vehicle from Levalley Chevrolet GMC . The organization says this is a milestone that will greatly enhance its ability to deliver vital community services.
The new vehicle will be used to support home visits by community health workers and to provide driver education training for local families. This initiative was made possible through a grant awarded by the Berrien Community Foundation, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening families and fostering opportunity.
“Today we purchased our first car to better serve fathers and families in our community and to especially serve those who don’t have a license, so they can get their license,” said James Gunter, Executive Director of Present Pillars. “We want to thank the Berrien Community Foundation and Levalley for getting this done for us.”
Neil Matheison of Levalley Chevrolet GMC also expressed his support for the organization’s mission. “We’re happy that Present Pillars was able to come in and purchase a vehicle from us today. We’re also glad to see them continue their mission by providing resources to fathers and families in the community.”
Present Pillars plans to continue to be a driving force for positive change in Benton Harbor and beyond, ensuring that fathers and families have access to the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. Gunter said, “Please support us, as we plan on continuing to support our community!”
Those interested in supporting Present Pillars can donate at presentpillars.org. The organization invites the community to its Annual Trunk or Treat on October 31 at Union Field (next to Discount Tire in Benton Harbor) from 5:30–7:30 PM, and its Fall Family Run/Walk 5K on November 1 at 10:00 AM at Sarett Nature Center. Both events aim to bring families together in a safe and healthy environment.
