Public Invited to Trolling With the Troops Water Cannon Boat Parade Saturday

For several years now Veterans from across Michigan’s Great Southwest have enjoyed a spectacular time heading out on Lake Michigan with experience fishermen and women to provide a fishing experience unlike any they have ever had the opportunity to enjoy before.

They’re doing it again this weekend, and you can be a part of a grand showcase to show your personal appreciation for these American heroes by standing along the banks of the St. Joseph River near the railroad train bridge at the Margaret B. Upton Arboretum in St. Joseph tomorrow afternoon.

The 4th Annual Trolling With the Troops event features local fishermen and charter boat captains who volunteer their time and their vessels to venture onto the big lake taking local American Military Veterans out for a free days fishing on Lake Michigan.

Tomorrow is the big day, Saturday, August 22nd, and you can be a part of it without ever setting out onto the water by lining the shores with your signs, American flags, banners, balloons and your goodwill and American spirit for the boat parade slated to get underway between noon and 12:30pm.

Dozens of local businesses have donated gift cards, coupons, food and more to support the men and women who have faithfully served our country on multiple fronts across the globe. Organizers hope that the general public will turnout in grand fashion to witness the water cannon fired from the massive aerial firetruck platform over the boat parade and ask you to honk horns, ring bells, wave, sing, show your flags, signs, balloons, banners your spirit by waving and saluting the veterans on their return to the home port.

The organizers want this to be the best Trolling With the Troops extravaganza ever, and only ask that you practice social distancing from your fellow revelers along the shore while taking part in this annual day of fun and salute to the troops.
