Red Arrow BP Hit By Counterfeiters

Even when the price of gasoline was more than $4-per gallon, most service stations and convenience stores refused to accept $50 or $100-bills from the traveling public. Perhaps an incident last week at a service station along Red Arrow Highway in Lincoln Charter Township will help to explain why.

Lincoln Township Police Department Detective Gary Soper and the folks from Crime Stoppers are asking for the public's help in tracking down a counterfeiter who purchased gasoline at the BP Gasoline Station on the evening of St. Patrick's Day and quickly left, leaving behind a bogus $100 bill.

Crime Stoppers has made the counterfeit passing the Crime of the Week, and is seeking clues to the identity of the patron responsible for the crime.

Detective Soper says that last Thursday, March 17, 2016 at approximately 9:45pm, his department was dispatched to the BP gas station located at 4107 Red Arrow Highway after the counterfeit bill had been passed.  The crook responsible walked into the business and purchased gasoline and paid with a counterfeit $100 bill before departing.

Crime Stoppers wants the person responsible for this fraud and will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to their arrest.  Crime Stoppers also pays cash rewards on other felony crimes and the capture of fugitives.
