Regional Manufacturer Invests in New Equipment and Will Add New Jobs

A manufacturer in the region marking its 40th anniversary year in business isn’t done growing yet. In fact, their workforce of 130 will grow by 10 new employees going forward as they invest in new equipment for their Michigann City facility.

Founded in Michigan City in 1978, Fiber Bond Corporation successfully garnered a tax abatement from the Michigan City Common Council last night on an investment of nearly $300k in new equipment for their air filtration product line.

Fiber Bond is a vertically integrated manufacturer of industrial textiles and commercial and industrial air filtration products. Dan Dobbins is President of the firm, and he tells us he will be adding new pieces of equipment to its production line to meet the needs of its ever growing customer base. Dobbins says, “Due to performance and quality of our air filtration product line, Fiber Bond has secured opportunities to produce panel and cube filters for two national accounts that will result in the need to expand our capacity and manpower used to produce these products.”

Fiber Bond will be investing $289,000 for the equipment and installation which will add 10 new employees and help retain the current base of 130 employees.

The tax abatement, which was approved unanimously by the Michigan City Common Council at a meeting last night, will allow Fiber Bond to begin work on the equipment installation immediately.
