Recently, Cressy Commercial Real Estate and Cornerstone Alliance welcomed over 75 guests for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of City Center Lofts, at 74 West Main Street in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
Attendees heard remarks from the President and CEO of Cornerstone Alliance, Rob Cleveland; CEO of Cressy Commercial Real Estate, Chris Fielding; and the Benton Harbor City Commissioner, Mary Alice Adams, who ceremoniously cut the ribbon.
“This is the first time in over 15 years that the building is dry on the inside and has a roof,” said Chris Fielding, CEO Cressy Commercial Real Estate, “It mainly gave us challenges, but at the end of the day, we could not be more proud of the final product and all the parties involved. One of the criteria we look at for development is whether it is beneficial to the community. This project was.”
According to Cressy Commercial Real Estate’s website, the residential space includes 16 neo-industrial style lofts located in the heart of the Benton Harbor Arts District. Exposed ductwork, spiral staircases, 16′ ceilings. A variety of luxury is available from studio apartments to one-bedrooms with an office – no two are the same. Commercial space on first floor is also available.
Constructed in the 1880’s, the building was on the verge of demolition before a partnership between the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the City Council of Benton Harbor, Cornerstone Alliance, and Cressy Commercial Real Estate resulted in a complete rehabilitation of its structure and purpose.
