A New Buffalo Mexican restaurant that has garnered considerable praise for its tacos for 25 years is growing—moving to a new location and adding inside seating. Rios will temporarily close its longtime drive-thru and carry-out location at 901 West Buffalo Street and open a new, larger dine-in, carry-out and drive-thru facility up the street at 603 East Buffalo Street.
The new Rio’s takes over a space that housed Buffalo Bill’s, across US 12 from another iconic New Buffalo eatery—Redamak’s. It is expected to open March 14 after the old location closes March 11. Rios owners have said the old space will reopen in the future, but with a new food concept not duplicative of Rios menu.
Rios is a family-owned, multi-generation business. They opened in New Buffalo in 2000, but the roots of the business extend back to a seasonal food stand in Sister Lakes decades ago.
