Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette will have a attentive audience for his message regarding heading into the world of work with the proper skill sets to get a quality job tomorrow at Hartford High School. His audience will be the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates students, and he’ll deliver his address in ceremonies early Wednesday morning, May 16th.

Schuette has argued, “Michigan will grow only when our high school students graduate with the skills they need to get a job right away.” That’s why he’s looking forward to tomorrow’s ceremonies in Hartford. He says, “I am excited to visit with the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates program and see first-hand how these students are being prepared for success after graduation.”

Kristin Harrington is the Executive Director of Youth Solutions, Inc. which runs the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates program. She says, “We are honored to have Attorney General Bill Schuette visiting our Hartford JMG students. The Attorney General’s messaging that graduates need to be prepared to fill Michigan’s open jobs resonates with our program’s mission to ensure young people win in education and employment. Moreover, Attorney General Schuette’s dynamic career in the public sector is a strong example of the ‘winning as citizens’ component of our mission, emphasizing to our young people the importance of giving back to their communities.”

Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates serves 127 students in two programs at Hartford High School and Hartford Alternative Education, and an additional 35 Hartford seniors from the Class of 2017 through our 12 months of follow-up programming. The program has been incredibly successful in ensuring Hartford’s youth graduate and secure meaningful employment or post-secondary education opportunities. Of the JMG students from the Class of 2016, 97-percent graduated and 86-percent went onto either employment or post-secondary education.
