South Haven Area Emergency Services has named its Firefighter of the Year.
SHAES says the award has gone to Captain James “JD” Quinn, a 22-year veteran of the department.
Quinn was just promoted to captain a few weeks ago, and then he received his Firefighter of the Year Award at the annual SHAES banquet on Saturday. Quinn started with SHAES in 2002 beginning as a paid-on-call member and transitioned to career in 2009. He was presented the department’s Leadership Award in 2019.
Also at the banquet, the Leadership Award went to Captain Ronald Ridley, who retired as a career member in 2023 but has continued as a paid-on-call member, extending his service to the community to 45 years.
At the banquet, SHAES also recognized several members for reaching milestone years of service and reviewed key accomplishments in 2023.
