A small Southwest Michigan health care provider is being recognized on a statewide stage.
Health Elevated PLLC in St. Joseph has been named a 2026 Micro Business of the Year by Michigan Celebrates Small Business, a statewide program that honors standout small companies across the state. The award will be presented at the organization’s annual gala in April.
For founder Amy Underwood, OTR/L, the recognition shines a spotlight on a niche service that is often overlooked.
Health Elevated is a concierge pelvic health occupational therapy practice serving women throughout Southwest Michigan. The practice provides direct-access, one-on-one care for bladder and bowel concerns, pelvic pain, and core-related issues across all stages of life.
Underwood launched the business with a clear mission: to make specialized pelvic health care more accessible and more personal.
She says the award is both humbling and energizing, and credits the support of local partners, including Kinexus, for helping make opportunities like this possible.
The Micro Business of the Year honor is reserved for very small companies — typically those with fewer than 10 employees or under $500,000 in annual revenue — that demonstrate strong customer satisfaction, a healthy workplace culture, and a positive impact on their local communities.
Michigan Celebrates Small Business, now in its 22nd year, has recognized more than 1,200 companies statewide since launching in 2004. While the competition is statewide, the impact for Health Elevated is close to home — reinforcing its goal of expanding access to specialized women’s health services right here in Michigan’s Great Southwest.
For a small practice built around personal care and word-of-mouth referrals, the statewide honor sends a clear message: even the smallest businesses can make a meaningful difference in their communities.
