Spectrum Health Lakeland Among “HealthCare’s Most Wired” 4th Year Running

If technology is important to you and your business, you can directly relate to the great feeling emanating through the halls of Spectrum Health Lakeland this week after learning that the institution has been recognized as being among “HealthCare’s Most Wired” hospitals and health systems in America once again. In fact, it marks the fourth consecutive year that the Lakeland team is being included in that elite line-up.

The recognition comes following release of the annual survey results announced by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives — or simply, CHIME. According to CHIME the mission of the Most Wired program “is to elevate the health and healthcare of communities around the world through the optimal use of information technology. The annual survey is designed to identify and recognize healthcare organizations that exemplify best practices through their adoption, implementation and use of information technology.”

More than 675 organizations, representing 2,190 hospitals, participated in the survey. The report found two key areas that emerged in 2018:

  • The use of foundational technologies such as integration, interoperability, security and disaster recovery
  • The use of transformational technologies to support population health management, value-based care, patient engagement and telehealth.

Those foundational pieces need to be in place for an organization to leverage tools to effectively transform health care.

Jason Joseph is Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer for Spectrum Health. He says, “Congratulations to the team at Spectrum Health Lakeland for achieving this recognition.” He notes, “This is a great acknowledgement of the team’s continued excellence and innovative approach to leveraging technology to enable high levels of quality care.”
