This weekend’s beautiful weather had a lot of people venturing out into the sunshine and warmer temperatures and you’ll have to forgive the St. Joseph City Commission if they pop on sunglasses and order up a hot dog or two tonight with a consent agenda packed with a forecast for lots of spring and summertime fun in Michigan’s Great Southwest.

They’ll take up stationary vendor permits for the Twisted Dog to begin selling hot dogs alongside the cannon in Lake Bluff Park around April 1st, the Hot Dog Kart to launch another season at State and Broad Streets on April 27th, and Scooter Joe’s mobility enterprises with bikes, surreys, and more on May 15th in downtown St. Joe.

Also on that docket are authorizations for:

  • The 2nd Annual March Mannequins event from St. Joseph Today in the central business district on Friday, March 13th from 7pm until 8:30pm in multiple storefronts downtown…
  • The Southwest Michigan Mini Maker Faire from Berrien RESA at Whirlpool Centennial Park below the bluff on Saturday, May 30th from 10am until 4pm…
  • The Summer Youth Tennis Program under the new leadership of Mark Ficks, Director of Racquet Sports for the South Shore Health & Racquet Club running from June 8th to July 23rd at the St. Joseph High School tennis courts…

All items except for the new contract for Mark Ficks program are on the consent agenda, while that new contract is a regular agenda item for consideration by the commission tonight.
