The city of St. Joseph is planning a few of new special events for the downtown area this fall.

City spokesperson Kayla Griffith tells us the first new event will feature live music on the streets of the downtown.

We’re really excited about Play St. Joe, a local busking day,” Griffith said. “So we’ve been reaching out to local musicians all over the area, our local bands, as well as just performers of all kinds to come and perform downtown St. Joseph October 4.”

Griffith said any buskers or other street performers who want to get in on the fun should reach out.

“We want to make sure that everyone has a great spot to perform and that no one comes into any conflicts with spots being taken, and so reach out to KGriffith@sjcity.org.”

City Manager Emily Hackworth this week also announced they’re going to hold Scary Movie Night with Young Frankenstein the evening of October 18 in the grassy lot south of Schu’s. People can bring blankets and chairs and sit in that lot, or they can park and watch drive-in style.

Finally, Hackworth said Truck or Treat, a trunk or treat-like event, will be held October 25 downtown, featuring fire trucks and other large equipment.

Everyone can watch the city’s website and social media to stay up to date on those plans.
