St. Joseph taking parks input through Monday

The city of St. Joseph is still seeking public input on its next five-year Parks Master Plan, and time is running out for people to give it.

City spokesperson Kayla Griffith tells us a survey asking for everyone’s thoughts will remain up through Monday. So, why is the master plan important?

This is going to dictate our priorities for our Parks and Recreation Department for the next five years,” Griffith said. “It’s also a really important part of us getting funding when we apply for grants from the Department of Natural Resources.”

Griffith says people do care about their parks.

So far, really excited to say we’ve gotten about 260 survey responses. This is feedback that we’re going to spend the next two weeks combing through, going through for ideas for maintaining and improving our parks and recreation programming.”

Once the survey closes and the public comment period ends, a draft plan will be posted for 30 days in November. After that, it will go to the Parks and Recreation Board and then the city commission.

You can find the survey here.
