With the preponderance of skilled craftsmen and outstanding manufacturing firms in Michigan’s Great Southwest, now might be a good time to seek some well-earned recognition for excellence on the local industrial front.
The Michigan Manufacturers Association is currently seeking nominations for high-performing Michigan companies and individuals for a set of first-ever awards designed to showcase those dedicated to excellence in the state’s manufacturing sector.
Southwest Michigan is still one of the strongest labor markets in the entire state for those creating things with their own hands through advanced manufacturing. Our region typically ranks first or second among the major Michigan labor market areas when measuring the per capita percentage of the workforce still engaged in the industrial sector.
The Michigan Manufacturers Association is rolling out the 2017 MFG Excellence Awards in a total of eight separate categories including innovation, community impact, talent attraction, emerging leadership, and lifetime achievement.
The MMA will also honor two manufacturing executives with John G. Thodis Michigan Manufacturer of the Year Awards in the large-company and small-company categories as has become their tradition over the years.
If you are interested in helping to recognize some of the amazing talent in Michigan’s Great Southwest through these awards, the nomination process calls for all entries to be submitted no later than 5pm on Thursday, September 14, 2017.
Winners of both the inaugural awards and the traditional Thodis awards will be honored at a special dinner event on Thursday, November 9th in Lansing. The ceremonies afford everyone in attendance the opportunity to not only honor the winners, but also to hear exceptional stories of world-class leaders and learn best practices to apply in one’s own business.
