State Police Keeping An Eye On Commmercial Drivers During Operation Eyes On 94

Michigan State Police will join officers from Indiana and Illinois to focus enforcement on I-94 and other major freeways in a coordinated operation this week. Michigan State Police assistant division commander over commercial enforcement Patrick Morris told more to Michigan News Network.

“Eyes On 94 is really a statewide operation across I-94 from our Fifth District, which is on the border with Indiana, all the way through out Third District, which ends in Port Huron,” Morris said. “We’ve been doing this campaign for over five years, and the emphasis behind it is driver behaviors specific to commercial vehicles.”

During this initiative, motor carrier officers will focus on violations by commercial vehicles that are most likely to contribute to a crash, which include distracted driving, following too close, improper passing, speeding, and improper lane use. Morris says the enforcement has led to a decrease in commercial vehicle crashes and fatalities.
