Stevensville’s The Squeeze Bar & Grille prepares for farewell

“This is one of the hardest posts I’ve ever had to write.”

That’s how the social media post started out from the owners of The Squeeze Bar & Grille. On Wednesday, they announced on social media that the restaurant’s final day of operation will be Saturday, February 28.

The Squeeze opened in August 2023 in the former Woodies location at 5725 St. Joseph Avenue. At the time, co-owners Sami Schlutt and Kristen Pfledderer said they were not initially planning to open a restaurant, but decided to move forward when the opportunity became available.

In this week’s post, the owners described the decision as difficult and said it followed significant thought. The message noted the business has been a central part of the owner’s family life, with the building holding years of personal and professional memories.

The post thanked staff members and customers for their support over the years and referred to the restaurant as a small community built around those who walked through its doors.

The owners said the closure represents the “right next step” for the family, although no details were provided about future plans.

The Squeeze Bar & Grille is encouraging customers to visit before the end of the month.
