Survey says you’re in good company among News consumers

Permit us to give you a little ‘self-serving’ research data from our pile of weekend reading on the MoodyOnTheMarket.com news desk.

Every Saturday morning, we enjoy reviewing the highlights of the week’s consumer and socio-economic research conducted by CivicScience, an independent research company.  CivicScience is responsible for the ‘addicting’ quick & easy surveys you may see—and participate in—on our web pages.  Millions of people voluntarily opt into those surveys every week, and as a result CivicScience analyzes huge amounts of research on a wide variety of topics, interests and products.  More at www.CivicScience.com

Among their questions this week were some on the biases that many advertisers have against placing their ads on ‘News sites’—like THIS ONE!  They fear ‘turning off’ their potential customers or making them uncomfortable, because ‘News’ may be controversial, have a point of view, etc.

While that may be true with some users/readers, CivicScience discovered that very desirable consumers—those with HIGHER household incomes—were MORE likely to access News sites. They are drawn to the content and the environment it creates.  So, reaching them in that manner can be a very positive association for your product.

Here’s how CivicScience summed it up in their weekly report:

You should advertise more on high-quality news sites. We hear all the time from brands who are afraid to advertise alongside news content, for fear of being associated with certain types of divisive or controversial content.  We get that – but all news sites aren’t created equal. We partnered on this powerful study with Ad Fontes Media, a tremendous organization that analyzes and rates the level of bias and quality of news sources. When we examined the readers and viewers of the highest quality outlets, suffice to say, they’re exactly the type of consumers most brands would love to have.

Were we surprised?   No!  We know we reach a high quality news-focused group of users/readers through our two ‘flagship’ information sites:  www.MoodyOnTheMarket.com  & www.WSJM.com

Both are also conveniently available on the TownCrierWire app.
