Robotics season may be over, but there’s at least one more great local showcase of student ingenuity when it comes to technology, robotics, and beyond and it’s all dedicated to a retired teacher who continues to have an impact on the St. Joseph Public School District even in his retirement.
The St. Joseph Public Schools will be hosting the 8th Annual Ren Baldwin Student Technology Festival next Friday, May 10th at St. Joseph High School.
Named in honor of retired St. Joseph Technology Director Ren Baldwin, the festival showcases the innovative use of technology in the district for enhancing instruction and student learning. Doors will open at 6:00 PM that evening, and the showcase will feature hundreds of student-created technology projects tied to district curriculum. The event is free and open to the public.
Door prizes, refreshments, robotics, a scavenger hunt, and digital citizenship/online safety information will also be part of the evening. Awards, sponsored by the St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation and Fairmount Santrol, will begin at 7:15 in the high school student center.
Amy Dirlam is Director of K-12 Library/Media Services and Instructional Technology for the St. Joseph Public School District. She says, “Each year, the students and teachers continue to amaze us with their innovative use of technology to demonstrate learning. We are so thankful for the ongoing support of the St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation, which makes it possible for us to host this event and recognize both students and teachers for their creative efforts.”
If you have the time, check it out, free of charge next Friday, May 10th.
