The PK Experiment Heads Outdoors!

Whether you're an avid fan of the PechaKucha concept or a first-timer wondering as much about how to pronounce it as to what it even is, you are absolutely invited to a first ever (on the local scene, anyway) PechaKucha trial balloon. For the first time to date, organizers are taking the show outside on a Friday night.

Essentially, PechaKucha entails a cadre of wildly diverse, oft times eccentric presenters each restricted to 20 slides on screen at 20-seconds each before the curtain rings down on their individual performance regarding the topic of their choice. This first ever PK Experiment takes the show to the great outdoors next Friday night, September 16, 2016, as a part of the Artoberfest Celebration weekend in the Benton Harbor Arts District. The team from PechaKucha St. Joseph-Benton Harbor has assembled plans for their sixth showcase — Volume 6 — to take place at The Livery in the Benton Harbor Arts District.

Because each presenter's 20 slides are essential to their showcase, the event can't technically begin until it is dark outside. However, the "pre-game" gets underway when the doors open at 7:30pm when you can enjoy drinks, Lark's BBQ, pizza-by-the-slice from the Livery, and what organizer Lana Rappette is classifying as a "Crrrazzzy Cool Line Up."

The event is wide open to the general public with literally everyone invited, especially in light of the fact that PechaKucha is meant for real life social networking.

You can get VIP Early Bird Tickets online at the link below for guaranteed seats at just $4.65 apiece, or the PK team seeks a suggested donation at the door of $3.00 each (cash or credit), but they caution if you pay at the door, you'll want to arrive early for a good seat, or you can bring your own lawn chair.

The theme of Volume 6 is all about Transformation. Stories from the unique individuals involved bring unique transformation stories regarding transformations in life, career, design, art, community and business.

These are the presenters and their selected topics for Volume 6:

  • Ken Ankli — Reflections on Water
  • Tracy Braman — Wouldn’t It Be Nice…..
  • Dave Clayton —  Alcoholism to Ironman: a Story of Recovery
  • John Egelhaaf & Peter Colovos — Swimming Upstream – A Large Plan for the Harbor to Stir the Soul
  • Candice Elders —  Random Slides PK Improv
