Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke says his detective bureau has solved “numerous burglaries” and recovered a substantial quantity of stolen property following a lengthy investigation. In fact, it took his deputies two and a half days just to process the stolen property that has been recovered in the wake of the investigation.
Behnke says his the investigation by his office has not only successfully solved numerous burglaries and recovered that large mass of stolen property, it has also resulted in the arrest and incarceration of two individuals alleged to be responsible for the crime spree.
The ongoing investigation by Cass County Sheriff Deputies took them to an address on Brownsville Road in Calvin Township in Cass County. A search warrant was obtained for the residence, and Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office and Cass County Drug Enforcement Team conducted that search warrant last Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
During execution of the search warrant it was discovered that the residence was full of stolen property from numerous burglaries and larcenies from Southwest Michigan and Elkhart County, Indiana. Also recovered in the search warrant were drugs including methamphetamine.
Two suspects have been arrested on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, and criminal enterprise. Behnke says that 32 year old Sunny Fogg of Brownsville Street in Cassopolis is being held on charges with $70,000 bond and 35 year old Amber Biggs, also of Brownsville Street in Cassopolis is being held on charges at $60,000 bond.
Behnke cautions that “While these suspects have been captured, there are still burglaries occurring since their arrest so we ask citizens to be vigilant and make sure their homes and vehicles are secure.”
