There’s been a break in the New Year’s Eve murder of an active duty soldier in St. Joseph Township.
Authorities say that yesterday, Friday, January 11, 2019, officers from the St. Joseph Township Police Department received a tip regarding the murder investigation that left Tyrone Hassel III dead in front of his own Colfax Avenue home.
That information has resulted in the arrest of two suspects for the murder of the U.S. Army Sergeatn who was home on leave during the holidays. Township police tell us, “No names or further information is being released pending the suspects arraignment.”
Berrien County Prosecutor Mike Sepic will issue additional information on Monday, January 14th, with further details in the case.
St. Joseph Township Police Lt. Randy Leng says his department was assisted by the Berrien County Sheriffs Department Detective Bureau, the Berrien County Homicide Task Force and the Michigan State Police.
