United Federal Breaks Ground on First Branch in Mishawaka

For the second time this month, and in further validation of its stated goal of exponential expansion in the region, officials from United Federal Credit Union have broken ground on a new branch, this time in Mishawaka. A couple of weeks ago they were performing the same ritual on a new site in South Bend.

United Federal Credit Union broke ground yesterday, Friday, October 27th, on its first branch in Mishawaka, Indiana. That project is the continuation of an expansion in Michiana that will eventually include six branches in St. Joseph County alone.

The new branch will be located at 4840 N. Main Street in Mishawaka.

United Federal President & CEO Terry O’Rourke told the assembled crowd of members and dignitaries, “What makes today’s groundbreaking so special to all of us at United is the ability to put our values into action; values that we share with the residents of Mishawaka.” He added, “At United, ethics, quality, and a focus on service are core to what we believe in. We are committed to sharing financial knowledge so that our members’ hopes and dreams become reality.”

United Federal Credit Union is headquartered in the Southtown neighborhood of St. Joseph, but has branches in multiple states across the nation.

Chris Jamrose is City Engineer for the community of Mishawaka. He said, “Cities, along with credit unions, have to continue to grow and develop to stay viable.” He added, “We’re excited to welcome the United Federal Credit Union family to Mishawaka and we are very honored that you have chosen us.”

UFCU broke ground earlier this month, on October 13th, on its Ireland Road branch in South Bend. Credit union officials are also actively pursuing locations for the four additional branches the credit union plans to build in St. Joseph County over the next three years.

The new branches will offer a full complement of services including loans, mortgages, checking accounts, debit and credit cards, investment planning and business lending.

The Redmond Company of Waukesha, Wisconsin, will manage the Mishawaka construction project, much as they are doing with the new branch underway in South Bend.
