As the race continues to get shots into arms all across Berrien County, there is an increasing need for volunteers to help staff upcoming mass vaccination clinics, and the Berrien County Health Department has reached out to United Way of Southwest Michigan in search of local companies who can muster groups of 10 or more volunteers to work as teams at those clinics.
The urgent need for volunteer staffers involves at least three upcoming clinics next week, but those businesses interested in fielding a team of 10 or more to help will need to respond to United Way’s scheduling system no later than this Thursday, April 8th.
They are still looking for volunteers for next week’s clinics, including two at Lake Michigan College on April 14th and one in Niles on the 17th.

Volunteers are needed for several roles:
Outdoor roles:
- Guiding traffic
- Checking people in for their appointment
- Handing them forms to complete
- Parking assistance
- Queuing when to enter building
Indoor roles:
- Checking over forms for completion
- Queuing to an available vaccinator
- Post vaccination monitoring
All clinics provide a meal, snack and drinks. Vaccine would be available to volunteers if there are extra doses at the end.
Once the Health Department has the organization or business info regarding those volunteering for which clinic(s) they will communicate the details prior to the clinic and be on site to do just-in-time training.
