Veteran Stevensville Businessman Named Lakeshore Distinguished Alum 2020

The frenetic character we’ve all come to know and love over several decades of his work across Michigan’s Great Southwest for his own quirky promotions has achieved another high honor, this time in his own hometown. Scott Berry from Scott Berry Promotions in Stevensville has been named as 2020 Distinguished Alumni by the Lakeshore Alumni Association and the Lakeshore Excellence Foundation.

Berry is a 1987 graduate of Lakeshore High School, and is well known in the business community for his work as owner of Scott Berry Promotions which is anchored in a space literally between the Lakeshore High School and Lakeshore Middle School.

Berry began his career in the sales department of his father, Richard Berry’s, custom binder and tab company, Lakeshore Looseleaf Corporation, before he eventually took over the Stevensville business as President in 2002. When Lakeshore Looseleaf was sold in 2004, Berry went to  work for HALO branded solutions, where he is consistently named top sales representative.

Scott has served on a number of committees and/or donated his time and resources to those dedicated to Lakeshore athletics, music, and  academics, including:

  • Football, Band, and Basketball booster clubs
  • Rocket Football
  • Lakeshore Soccer
  • Lakeshore Robotics
  • DECA
  • Lakeshore Excellence Foundation

He has also dedicated his time to Young Life and the Benton Harbor Boys and Girls Clubs. Berry says his years at Lakeshore helped make him the man he is today, noting, “Being involved in the Lakeshore community and Lakeshore Public Schools is my passion.” He adds, “I tell my kids that your work ethic is what matters most. Not everyone can be the top student in the class, but everyone can work hard to achieve what they want in life. My kids have a great foundation in life because they are Lancers, too.”

The Lakeshore Distinguished Alumni is chosen through a formal nomination and review  process. Lakeshore Alumni Association President and Lakeshore Excellence Foundation  Trustee, Chad Deja, says Berry’s personal connection to the LEF makes this year’s pick truly special, saying, “Scott’s time with the LEF Board showed him to be a great friend and supporter of Lakeshore Public Schools,” adding, “I am glad that we can honor him for all he has done for us.”

The Lakeshore Excellence Foundation and Lakeshore Alumni Association will recognize Mr. Berry during a special ceremony prior to him speaking to graduates at Lakeshore’s Commencement in June, and say they are proud to name Scott Berry as the 2020 Lakeshore  Distinguished Alumni.
