The public is invited to a free patriotic concert honoring veterans and their families on Sunday, Nov. 9, at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center.
The Southshore Concert Band, directed by Dale Reuss, will perform beginning at 2 p.m., with Jeff Whitaker serving as emcee. Presented by Lest We Forget, the annual Veterans Day concert features traditional patriotic music, salutes to the branches of service, and this year’s theme, On Wings Like Eagles.
The 78-member ensemble will include instrumental, vocal, and visual selections paying tribute to the men and women who have served. A special remembrance will honor late members of Lest We Forget, with their photographs shown during the hymn “The Mansions of the Lord.”
Veterans attending may have a complimentary photo taken from 1 to 1:45 p.m. before the performance. Copies will be mailed afterward.
The event will also include an announcement about next year’s historical reenactment, along with Lest We Forget’s “Books of Heroes” and T-shirts available for purchase.
