Whirlpool Exec Joins Corewell Health System Statewide Board

A Whirlpool executive has been named to the Board of Corewell Health, the huge statewide health system that’s the parent to Southwest Michigan’s ‘Corewell Health South’—formerly known as Lakeland Health.

While you may need an organizational chart to totally understand the often changing healthcare landscape, this is an important appointment to Corewell’s ‘big board’ because it helps assure local input from Berrien County on the major health issues on which Corewell Health’s  decisions have a significant impact.

Here’s the formal statement from Corewell on the appointment of Danielle ‘Dani’ Brown to their board.

Corewell Health™ welcomes Danielle “Dani” Brown, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Whirlpool Corporation, as a new board member effective Jan. 1, 2023. She is one of 16 system board members helping guide the organization to achieve its mission and vision.

“We are excited for Dani to join our board and provide advice and guidance on our strategic imperative to transform health,” said Julie Fream, President and CEO, MEMA Original Equipment Suppliers and chair of the Corewell Health Board of Directors

“Dani’s passion for health equity and serving our Michigan communities was very evident in our discussions, and I am confident that her contributions will advance our strategy,” said Tina Freese Decker, President & CEO, Corewell Health. “We are thrilled Dani is joining our board.”

As SVP and CIO at Whirlpool, Brown drives innovation across the Whirlpool family of brands, leading the global IT organization and developing a long-term view of technology’s impact on the business, translating it into a workable global IT strategy. She is widely known as a global technology executive and digital governance leader, having previously served as a senior executive at Brunswick, a boat and marine propulsion manufacturer; and DuPont, a diversified industrial manufacturer in the chemical industry. She received her MBA from Drexel University and MS in information science from Penn State University.
