Winter Gala at Tosi’s to benefit housing for a local veteran

Three southwest Michigan organizations are joining forces to help provide safe, dignified and affordable housing to a local veteran in our community.

Guaranteed Rate in St. Joseph, Harbor Habitat for Humanity and NOBO Provisioning Center in Benton Harbor are set to host a Winter Gala at Tosi’s Restaurant in Stevensville February 3, in support of the “Operation Small Home for a Veteran” project.

“Grab a friend and join us … to celebrate what the power of the hammer and the faith of a mustard seed can accomplish in our beloved community,” says a press release from Guaranteed Rate. “There are many ways to support this effort through sponsorship opportunities, tickets, and donations. Your involvement will enable one more veteran to have a warm, affordable, and safe place to call home.”

Sponsorship opportunities and ticket information can be found at the Harbor Habitat for Humanity website.

“Our company has wanted to do something big for our local veterans since we opened our doors in 2022 in St. Joseph,” said Joy Cluff, Area Manager at Guaranteed Rate. “So, when I was approached by my team on what we could do to provide affordable housing for a veteran, my first thought was to call Harbor Habitat because they built a home during the pandemic with Children’s Chapel of St. Augustine’s. I thought, if the children can do it, so can we!”

Harbor Habitat for Humanity is a Christian non-profit housing ministry that seeks to eliminate inadequate housing by engaging the community and partnering with families to provide them with a safe, decent and affordable place to call home.

“Harbor Habitat is humbled by the outpouring of love and support from our neighbors,” said Erin Hudson, Executive Director & CEO for Harbor Habitat for Humanity “Particularly the children, who saw the need and decided to become a part of the solution.”

Alan Bonsett, of event sponsor NOBO Provisioning Center said “We are excited to be a part of the project, to give back to our local community and support our local veterans.”

Tickets are limited to 100 attendees, so organizers are asking people to register at harborhabitat.org. Tickets are $100 in advance and $125 at the door (if available).  Donations are also encouraged. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.
