High school student from Bridgman takes second in Walberg art contest

A Bridgman High School student is the second place winner of Congressman Tim Walberg’s 2023 Congressional Art Competition. Cooper Stewart took the honor with a photograph of the walkway leading up to the St. Joseph lighthouse during winter. His photo, Wintry Walk, will now hang in Congressman Walberg’s Niles office. Walberg announced the art competition in April, taking submissions from young people throughout his district. The first place entry for 2023 was submitted by Jourdan Young, a student at Clinton High School in Lenawee County. Her Michigan Summers is an acrylic painting depicting two girls playing in the sand on the coast of Lake Michigan during the summer with a lighthouse in the background. Her submission will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel to the U.S. Capitol Building. Walberg says “2023 was truly a great year of submissions, with many pieces showcasing the natural beauty of Michigan.”
