The Women’s Business Center (WBC) at Cornerstone Alliance has been recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration as the 2024 Michigan Women’s Business Center of Excellence. The award, presented during a recent visit from SBA leadership, honors the WBC’s exceptional service to entrepreneurs and its impact across Southwest Michigan.

The recognition comes as National Small Business Week kicks off and coincides with the release of the WBC’s 2024 Impact Report, which details a year of measurable growth and progress for small businesses in the region. Over the past year, the WBC assisted more than 450 entrepreneurs through business training programs and provided individualized counseling to dozens of clients. That support contributed to the launch of 14 new businesses, the securing of nearly $850,000 in capital for 15 entrepreneurs, and the support of 328 jobs in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties.

“The work we do at the Women’s Business Center is rooted in trust, empowerment, and collaboration,” said Brandy Jaquez, Managing Director of the WBC at Cornerstone Alliance. “This award is a reflection of the entrepreneurs we serve every day—those who are committed to building something meaningful for themselves, their families, and their communities. We’re honored by the SBA’s recognition and proud of the momentum we’re helping to build across Southwest Michigan.”

The Women’s Business Center at Cornerstone Alliance exists to empower women entrepreneurs with opportunities to achieve financial independence. With a mission grounded in values of inclusivity, creative solutions, and accountability, the WBC continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact as a leading entrepreneurial resource in the region.

“The Women’s Business Center at Cornerstone Alliance stands out for its client-centered approach and impressive outcomes,” said Laketa Henderson, District Director of the US Small Business Administration of Michigan. “Their commitment to strengthening the local economy through support of women-owned businesses exemplifies the mission of the SBA and the power of our WBC network.”
