Women’s Service League Hosts Charity Ball & Scholarship

It’s March…and that’s exactly what the crew is doing at the Women’s Service League of Southwestern Michigan. They are marching headlong toward two of their most significant events of the year and they are hopeful you can join in one or both along the way.

Everyone can take part in the League’s 58th Annual Charity Ball coming on March 18th at The Box Factory for the Arts. Especially noteworthy this year is that the event will benefit Mosaic of Benton Harbor.

The black-tie-optional event is a long-standing tradition in Michigan’s Great Southwest and has helped numerous charities, including Pennies from Heaven, The Alex Mandarino Foundation, the Benton Harbor Girls Academy, and Sarrett Nature Center.

This year, all proceeds benefit the Mosaic Christian Community Development Association. Money raised will benefit their Jobs for Life program as well as aiding in their capital campaign effort for relocation. Mosaic focuses on two key needs in our community — jobs and education. At the heart of what they do is connecting people to each other and resources that foster community development, while focusing on four key values: Empowerment, Reconciliation, Sustainability, and Listening.

The 2017 Charity Ball event will begin at 6pm with cocktails and tours of the Box Factory. The evening will continue with a raffle, progressive dinner at 7pm featuring local cuisine, and dancing that will last until 11pm. Tickets for the event are $75 each and can be obtained by contacting Mary LoPresti at mmlopresti@yahoo.com, by sending a check and the names of guests to WSL c/o Mary LoPresti, PO Box 873, St. Joseph, MI 49085, or by visiting their website at the link below where you can buy the tickets online:
