Mid-West Marketing & Media is expanding its sales team across northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan as the company recruits new account executives to support growing demand for local advertising and digital media services. President and General Manager Dave Doetsch said the company is hiring in South Bend/Mishawaka, St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, and South Haven, with opportunities available immediately for qualified candidates.

Doetsch said the company is looking for competitive, business-minded applicants who can build relationships with local owners and help them navigate today’s expanding range of marketing options.

“These roles are about finding and building relationships with local business owners and helping them understand the tools we offer,” Doetsch said. “We work across traditional radio and a wide range of digital solutions, and we need people who enjoy talking to business leaders, learning about their goals, and developing strategies that work.”

A Broad Media Portfolio Spanning Radio, Digital and Creative Services

Mid-West Marketing & Media operates one of the region’s largest local media portfolios, including both broadcast and digital brands. Its radio stations include:

  • News/Talk/Sports 94.9 WSJM
  • ROCK 107 WIRX
  • 97.5 The Lake
  • 103.7 COSY-FM
  • 99.9 Y Country
  • Sunny 101.5
  • LIVE 96.1 and 98.3
  • WSBT Sports Radio 106.1

The company also manages several high-traffic digital platforms, such as Moody on the Market, Town Crier Wire, and Big Deals, and partners with Webstix, a web development and SEO firm providing website audits, rebuilds and digital performance analysis.

Doetsch said the breadth of services allows account executives to deliver full-spectrum marketing strategies, ranging from traditional radio and streaming audio to connected-TV advertising, geofencing, targeted display and social campaigns. “If a business owner wants to run an ad on Hulu or Spotify, we can facilitate that. If they need a new website or SEO work, we can help with that too,” he said.

Why Businesses Need Local Expertise

Doetsch said companies increasingly need trained local consultants to guide their marketing decisions. While the rise of AI tools and automated platforms gives businesses more options, he cautions that strategy, message development and competitive analysis still rely on human insight.

“You can use all the tactics in the world, but if your message isn’t strategically thought out, you’re wasting your money,” Doetsch said. He added that AI can generate content, but not the depth, nuance or market-specific reasoning required for an effective campaign. “AI can’t look at your competitors and say, ‘Here’s how you differentiate yourself.’ It can’t provide the strategic thinking that makes advertising work.”

A skilled account executive, he said, helps businesses connect the dots between impressions, clicks and bottom-line results—something automated platforms struggle to deliver.

What Makes a Successful Candidate

Doetsch said candidates should have three core traits:

  • Competitive drive: “You’ll talk to a lot of people and face pushback. If you don’t have a competitive spirit, this job will wear you down.”
    • Ability to talk business: Account executives must be comfortable discussing budgets and revenue needs with new contacts.
    • Creativity: “We aren’t selling a static product. You get to help create the ideas, messages and campaigns. That’s rare.”

In return, employees receive ongoing training, development opportunities and the ability to work with a wide variety of businesses, industries and marketing tools.

Local Impact and Community Commitment

Doetsch said one of Mid-West Marketing & Media’s core values is its community-first approach. The company coordinates local initiatives such as food drives and charitable campaigns, and emphasizes that local advertising dollars stay in the region.

“When you work with us, you’re helping local businesses grow,” he said. “That growth increases staffing, improves wages, and strengthens our community as a whole.”

Position Details and Hiring Timeline

The company is hiring account executives in South Bend, St. Joseph/Benton Harbor and South Haven, and is also open to filling sales support and customer service roles for applicants who want to work in a business development environment but prefer not to be in front-line sales.

Doetsch said positions are not commission-only. Each role offers a guaranteed base with opportunities for commissions and bonuses, giving new hires time to build a client base without pressure selling.

“We’re ready to hire as soon as we find the right candidate,” Doetsch said.
