Dominguez to return as village manager of Stevensville

A familiar face will once again take the reins at the Stevensville village office.

Village trustees on Thursday voted to hire Kacey Dominguez to serve as the next village manager. Dominguez was previously the village manager in Stevensville, from 2022 to 2025. She left early this year to take on the manager position in Lincoln Township, but resigned in April.

Stevensville Village Council President Bert Peters tells us when trustees were reviewing the more than 20 applications they received for a new manager and saw the resume of Dominguez there, she rose to the top.

So when she came back and gave us a resume, it was like rehiring  — what did the rest of the council say — your star player back,” Peters said.

Peters says during her previous tenure with the village, Dominguez brought its operations to the next level, securing grants and starting several initiatives.

One of them being the Anstey Foundry, an old foundry in the village limits that has been condemned. We’re trying to work on getting it torn down and then something else rebuilt there. And it’s been a big project, along with Safe Streets for All, because everybody wants to do more walking and bicycling. A new parking lot was put in, and we have a new dog park.”

Peters says when Dominguez left for Lincoln Township, she even offered to follow through on some Stevensville projects that she’d started.

When she left, she said, ‘Hey, there’s these three or four projects I still want to stay involved in. Is it okay?’ And we thought, well, if your new employer is okay with it, we’re okay with it. So she was really committed to getting that done. That said a lot about her character.”

Peters adds the village office staff is thrilled to get Dominguez back.

“They really stepped up while she was gone, but I think we’re all going to feel a little more relief now that she’s coming back because she was doing a few things when we had — everybody down there had to kind of take another step into getting more done without her.”

Dominguez will start on Monday with the same $81,000 salary and benefits package she had before leaving. She resigned from Lincoln Township for reasons that were never specified publicly, but after an incident in which the fire chief was suspended for 30 days due to comments he’d made about her.
